Uniform Care Quick Guide

Our marching band jackets and gauntlets are DRY CLEAN ONLY. Please review these guidelines carefully
so we can keep our uniform inventory in excellent condition for years to come.
Jackets, gauntlets or sashes.

 Never wash, spot clean, iron, steam, or put them in a dryer.
 Keep spray deodorant, perfume, and fabric freshener off of them.
 If they need cleaning mid-season, take them to “Your Cleaners”, 501 Old State Route 74, Cincinnati, OH 45244.              Mention the Batavia High School Marching Band for the $6.00 rate (plus tax).
Bibbers
 Machine wash cold, inside out, by themselves, with mild detergent. No bleach, no well water. Tumble
dry low.
 Or have them dry cleaned at “Your Cleaners” for $6.00 plus tax.
 Make sure they're completely dry before they go back in storage. Two or three washes a season is
plenty.

Hats (Shakos)
 Never dry clean or soak. Wipe the outside with a slightly damp cloth.
 Store upside down in the hat box with the gauntlets laid flat around the outside.

Plumes are handed out at each performance. While you have one, treat it like part of your uniform.
Storage

Hang everything on the hanger in your numbered garment bag. Never zip a wet uniform into a closed
bag.

Uniforms should stay at school unless you are told to take them home or you ask first.

Something wrong?
Tell the Band Director or a Uniform Volunteer about any stain, tear, or missing piece right away, and don't
try to fix it yourself. If your uniform gets stained, you may be asked to take it to Your Cleaners for cleaning.
Accidents happen. If a piece is damaged or lost, whether by accident or misuse, you may be responsible for
repair or replacement costs. The Band Director has final say.
